Use an invented example where possible. Avoid sending children’s names, schools, photographs or saved work.

Getting started

Choose the 4+ or 7+ learning path, then select a subject. Set 5, 10, 15, 20, 50 or 100 questions per session from the home screen. Writing and activities to do together have their own format.

Questions vary across sessions. A smaller topic bank may repeat once its available questions have been used. Reading keeps the questions for each passage together.

Reading voices

Tap the lock on the home screen and answer the grown-up question. Under Reading voice, choose the British female narrator or Arthur (British male), then tap Hear a sample. The female voice is the default, and your selection is saved for both learning paths.

If a voice says Not installed, download it through the device’s voice settings if Apple offers it, then return to the app. Available voices depend on the device. To hear prompts, check the volume and turn Spoken prompts on.

Dictation sentences can be played again or revealed when you are ready to check them.

Saved writing and progress

Open the same writing prompt to continue a saved draft. Writing, drawings and progress are stored on the device. There is no app-managed account or cloud synchronisation.

Work is reviewed by a grown-up; handwriting, writing and conversation activities are not automatically marked. Device backups may contain saved work, depending on your settings.

Resetting or deleting work

Open the grown-up area using the lock on the home screen. Reset clears the selected learning path’s progress, recent-question history, activity markers and notes. It keeps writing drafts and the other learning path’s records.

To remove a draft, clear its text, plan and drawing and save the changes as needed. Delete App in device storage removes the installation’s local data; Offload App keeps documents and data. Manage existing backups separately. We cannot recover local work for you.

Purchases and refunds

Apple handles App Store payments and refund requests. For an eligible purchase, use Apple’s Report a Problem service. Apple decides eligibility and the outcome; a refund is not guaranteed.
